Leave the Leaves

The colorful trees of Fall have arrived, and soon enough, sidewalks, driveways, and landscapes will be covered with crunchy leaves as the trees prepare for winter. The good news is that raking up every last leaf is unnecessary. Fallen leaves can actually benefit the landscape and surrounding ecosystems by providing habitat for small wildlife species, and nutrients for the soil, thus contributing to a healthy, self-sustaining system.

To read more about leaving the leaves, take a look at the National Wildlife Federation’s blog, which has information and advice on managing leaves in your garden.

Join us this Sunday, November 6 at the Clover Market in Bryn Mawr! Learn about adding winter interest to your landscape, or do some leaf rubbings with the kids.  And of course, we'll have our beloved Tinker for some photo ops!
